Sunshine Girls get Malta boost ahead of England series
THE relatively new Malta Light is said to be good for health-conscious con-sumers seeking a low-calorie, vitamin-enriched drink, and it is no surprise that the Jamaica Netball Association
has taken it on as one of their sponsors for
the Sunshine Girls’ three-test series against England Roses.
Malta is one of Red Stripe’s non-alcoholic brands and only last year a new variant — Malta Light — was launched and joins the Malta Original, Malta Velvet and Malta Refresh. The brand is now a first-time sponsor of netball.
Racquel Nevins, Malta Light brand manager, told the Jamaica Observer that they are proud to be on board to assist the Sunshine Girls.
“We are proud to be a part of this. It is our first year and it’s a part of the development of sports,” said Nevin, whose sponsorship will include cash and kind.
“Malta Light has 40 per cent less sugar and only 100 calories. All of the Malta family is packed with vitamin B, of course it’s a wholesome drink, non-alcoholic and great for your energy, great for your health. And when you want to relax, a cold Malta will do that,” Nevins pointed out.
She said Red Stripe, as a company, is committed to the development of the Jamaican people, on a whole, and sports in particular.
“Red Stripe… is very big on the development of the country and sports, so it’s a great pleasure to be on board to be supporting the ladies (by) doing promotions around the ladies at supermarkets, doing radio ad for them to make sure that people come out and support,” she added.
Nevins continued: “It’s a growing partnership where Sunshine Girls, JNA and Malta win and it is an honour to be a part of the development of sports in Jamaica.”
The Sunshine Girls, ranked fourth in the world, will be playing the third-ranked English Roses in three test matches starting on April 2 and concludes on April 6.
Prior to the test matches, there will be added entertainment with dancehall singers and also
matches between celebrities and masters, corporate male and media and malta will be in the thick of things.
