City slip again, lacklustre Utd extend lead
Manchester United have all but have both hands on the Premier League trophy after Manchester City fell to an unexpected defeat again this season.
Roberto Mancini’s men, missing talisman Yaya Toure due to a migraine, didn’t quite get going until Leon Osman’s wonder goal put Everton ahead in the 32nd minute. The Toffees then defended staunchly, despite losing Steven Pienaar to a red, until Nikica Jelavic put the game to bed in the 92nd minute with a clever finish after a break.
Reading were slightly unlucky against United a scuffed Wayne Rooney shot undid all their solid defending for a 1-0 Manchester win. Man U now lead the league by 15 points.

Madrid sides win

Atletico, meanwhile, were virtually always in control against relegation-threatened Osasuna as Diego Costa score on either side of the half to give them the 2-0 win. David Villa and Lionel Messi combined for all three of Barcelona’s goals as the Catalans beat Rayo Vallecano 3-1.

Balo! Balo! Balo!
AC Milan fans will be chanting Mario Balotelli’s name after the striker scored a double in Milan’s 2-0 win over Palermo to maintain his brilliant scoring record since his January transfer.
Balotelli also maintained his impeccable penalty-scoring run as he scored Milan’s first from the spot in the eighth minute. Juventus, meanwhile, were off to a slow start but got the job done against Bologna as Claudio Marchisio found his touch and aided one goal and scored another for the 2-0 Bianconeri win.
An 82nd-minute strike from Jonathas condemned Lazio to a 1-0 defeat away to Torino.

Munich pip Leverkusen
Bayern Munich showed why they are going to lift the Bundesliga title in a couple months as they overcame one of their nearest challengers in Bayer Leverkusen 2-1.
Bayern went ahead soon before the half thanks to a Mario Gomez goal, however Leverkusen seemed to have claimed a draw when Simon Rolfes equalised in the 75th minute. It was not to be so though as Bayern showed their champion class getting the three points in any way possible with a own-goal swing the balance to the Bavarians.
Borussia Dortmund were far more ruthless this weekend, however as both Nuri Sahin and Robert Lewandowski scored braces in their 5-1 win over Freiburg.
