Reno host Logwood in cross-zone showdown
FROME, Westmoreland — Former champions Reno FC could claim a share of the lead in the Jamaica Football Federation Captain’s Bakery and Grill Western Confederation Super League this afternoon when they host last-placed Logwood United in a cross-zone fixture at the Frome Sports Complex.
Reno FC are in third place on 20 points, one behind second place and mid-season champions Tomorrow’s People and three behind leaders Wadadah FC. A win today would see the Westmoreland club joining the leaders on points.
Logwood United have gone without a win in their last five outings, drawing four games over the span and are now tied for last-place with Petersfield FC, both on eight points. They have only won once each all season.
In another game this afternoon, Petersfield will take on Norwood Strikers at the Petersfield Community Centre in a relegation battle.
Norwood are on nine points and in 10th place.
Meanwhile on Sunday, Holland United scored a big 3-0 upset win over Village United at the Elliston Wakeland Centre in the only game played after three other games were postponed.
Stephon Bramwell scored twice for Holland United, snapping a two-game winless streak and leaping three places in the points tables to sixth place.
Holland United, last season’s Trelawny FA Major League champions, are on 12 points same as Catherine Hall and one point behind Granville United.
Bramwell gave Holland the lead in the 35th minute, while Romaine Lewis added a second in the 47th minute before Bramwell completed his brace in the 63rd minute.
