Spicy Hill, Duanvale in semi-final contention
GEORGIA, Trelawny — Spicy Hill FC and Duanvale FC moved into semi-final contention in the Trelawny Football Association’s Monymusk White Overproof rum Major League after good wins in the third round on Saturday.
Spicy Hill came from a goal down to beat Exidos So Fresh 2-1 at Georgia and improved to second-place on 22 points, while Duanvale moved three places up into fourth place after also coming from behind to beat Invaders SC 4-1 at Bunkers Hill.
In another game at Coopers Pen, the home team scored late to earn a 1-1 draw with Flames, denying them a share of the lead.
Ian McAnuff’s 49th minute goal gave Flames the lead, but Jeffrey Johnson drew Coopers Pen level in the 90th minute as Flames inched to 21 points and third-place behind leaders Prospect Links (23) and Spicy Hill (22).
Husana Johnson’s ninth-minute goal gave Exidos the lead at Georgia but two second half goals from Brent Beckford in the 53rd and 73rd gave Spicy Hill their sixth win of the campaign as they moved to within touching distance of the lead.
At Bunkers Hill, the home team Invaders went ahead in the 12th minute from a Cordwell Gordon goal, but Kemar Hylton scored a quick fire brace in the 15th and 20th minutes to hand Duanvale the lead at half time.
