Savannah earn vital point in fight against drop
FROME, Westmoreland — Savannah SC continued their uphill battle against relegation from the Red Stripe Premier League by battling to a 1-1 draw with Humble Lion in their third-round game at the Frome Sports Complex yesterday.
Last-placed Savannah SC bounced back from a 4-0 drubbing at Waterhouse on Monday night and snapped a two-game losing streak, while Humble Lion who are in 10th position were drawing their second straight game.
Omar Stewart scored in the 31st minute for Savannah’s first home goal in three games to equalise Jermaine Christian’s 18th-minute opening goal as the teams battled out a goalless second half.
The point was Savannah’s first from the Clarendon team this season after losing 2-1 in the first round at Frome and 1-0 at humble Lion as they inched to 18 points, but still in dead last in the 12-team league, while Humble Lion moved a point up to 33 points.
