Marl Road shoot into lead in St James
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Marl Road FC took over the lead in Zone A of the St James Football Association’s Dennis Barton/Weston King Division One after scoring a come-from-behind 3-1 win over Abes Academy at the UDC Field on Thursday afternoon.
Chevall Higgings scored twice for Marl Road as they chalked up their second straight win to edge past Mountain Villa on goal-difference, both on six points each.
Stephen Malcolm gave Abes the lead in the 11th minute, but Higgings equalised in the 14th minute as the teams went into the half-time break tied at 1-1.
Marl Road scored two quick goals in the second half as Abes crashed to their second loss; David Reid gave Marl Road the lead after 51 minutes and Higgings added another two minutes later.
In another game at Wyndham, Lilliput Rovers and Salt Spring Roses played out a 1-1 draw in Zone B.
The loss kept Salt Spring in second place on goal difference behind Copperwood FC, both on four points, while it was the second draw for Lilliputt Rovers.
