Ambassadors face Fogo in Sandals/ATL Senior League
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Surprise leaders North Gully Ambassadors will take on second-placed Fogo United in the feature game of today’s St James Football Association Sandals/ATL Senior League second-round double-header at Jarrett Park, set to start at 7:00 pm.
North Gully Ambassadors with former national players Theodore Whitmore and Hector Wright are the only unbeaten team left in the league, and lead Zone A with 11 points and are coming off three straight wins.
Fogo United, however, are the top-scoring team in the league with 12 goals so far from five games, one more than Violet Kickers, who have scored 11 goals from six games.
In the first game, Granville City, fresh from their upset win over Salt Spring United last weekend, will take on winless Melbourne United starting at 5:00 pm.
Meanwhile, Montego Bay Boys Club handed Montego Bay United Under-21 their first loss of the season, beating them 3-1 at Wespow Park on Wednesday while avenging a first-round loss.
After a scoreless first half, Kalusha Koates scored in the 54th minute to give Montego Bay Boys Club the lead, while Leroy Christie doubled the advantage in the 60th minute.
Oshane Russell pulled one back for MBU Under-21 in the 75th minute before Obrian Adams sealed the points for Boys Club in the 80th minute, as his team joined MBU Under-21 on 11 points at the top of Zone B.
Yesterday, an 83rd-minute own goal from Salt Spring United’s Kemar Sterling gifted Violet Kickers a point in a 2-2 draw at the UDC field.
This was the third straight game without a win for Salt Spring, who slipped to fourth in the Zone A points table, tied on eight points with Violet Kickers and Fogo United, but trail both on goal difference.
Stephen Forrest in the 11th minute and Torrey Samuels had given Salt Spring a quick start, but Violet Kickers clawed their way back through an Andrew Walker goal in the 60th minute, before Sterling’s error drew them level.
In another game, Reggae Youths extended their winless run to five games after being held goal-less by Little Miami in a Zone B game.
