Marl Road FC, Spring Roses seek second win in St James FA’s Division One
MONTEGO BAY, St James – MARL ROAD FC and Salt Spring Roses will go after their second-straight win this afternoon, as the St James Football Association’s Dennis Barton/Weston King Division One continues with two games.
After beating promoted Paradise FC, 4-1, in their opening game, Marl Road will take on Abes Academy at the UDC Field in Zone A, and will seek to join Mountain Villa on top with six points.
Mountain Villa scored their second win on Tuesday afternoon, blanking Westgreen FC 3-0 with Romaine Cameron scoring his second double in as many games to lead the scoring race with four goals.
Edmond Sheriff had opened the scoring in the eighth minute, while Cameron scored in the 38th and 51st minutes.
Salt Spring Roses will travel to the Wyndham field in Rose Hall to face Lilliput Rovers in Zone B and a win would see them assuming the lead with six points, two more than Copperwood FC who beat Juniors 4-0 on Tuesday.
Enrico Campbell scored twice — in the 49th and 50th minutes — to lead Copperwood, after Ajohn Sergeant had scored the opening goal in the 28th minute, while Clifton Atkins scored the fourth goal in the 90th minute.
Irwin rebounded from their opening loss to hammer Paradise FC 6-0 with Texroy Egbert scoring twice in the 83rd and 85th minutes, after goals from Christopher Reid in the 23rd minute, Chay Grat in the 26th, Odane Ellis in the 43rd, and Paul Livingston in the 6th minute.
