Flames surge to top of Trelawny Major League
DUNCANS, Trelawny — Flames FC surged to the top of the points tables in the Trelawny Football Association Monymusk White Overproof Rums Major League after beating mid-season finalists Invaders SC 2-1 at Sea-Road field on Sunday.
The win took Flames to 20 points and on goal difference ahead of mid-season champions Prospect Links, who were upset 2-1 by Spicy Hill on Saturday.
Brad Johnson scored in the fifth minute and Navardo Williams in the 31st minute gave Flames a 2-0 lead before Alex Dixon pulled one back in the 45th minute.
Spicy Hill are in joint third place on 19 points after their win on Saturday coming from behind to beat Prospect Links.
Jeff Bennett’s third-minute goal had given the home team the lead, but Damion Williams equalised in the 23rd before scoring the winner in the 47th minute.
Duanvale FC scored the biggest win on Saturday with a 4-1 spanking of Jackson Town to move to 17 points; Ernesto Barrett in the 6th minute, Orlando Grey in the 26th, and Floyd Parkinson in the 35th minute gave them a 3-0 lead at half-time.
Shane Weir added a fourth in the 85th minute before Orane Fearon got one for Jackson Town in time added.
Cooper’s Pen inched away from the relegation zone with a 2-1 win over last-placed Kinloss FC.
Christopher Noble’s goal in the stroke of half-time gave Cooper’s Pen the lead before Andre Palmer doubled the advantage in the 75th minute, while Warren Dixon gave Kinloss some hope in the 88th minute.
