Scribes spur Santos to win in Golden League
Former champions Santos and Kingston Commissioners are joint leaders of the 2013 Bull Investments Golden League football competition with 21 points each.
However, Santos have played nine games, one less than Kingston Commissioners. Santos also have the best goal difference, having tallied 18 strikes for with just five against as opposed to Kingston CC’s 16 strikes for and six against.
Christian Ambassadors are third on 19 points from nine games, the same as Harbour View, with Shortwood in fifth place on 18 points. Boys’ Town are next on 14, followed by Barbican on 13, Kush on 12, Real Mona 10, Wonders and St George’s on eight each, Pelicans and Packers on seven, with Eastern on five and Cavalier at the bottom of the 15-team league on four points.
Wonders and Packers have played 10 games to date.
In action from last weekend, Kingston CC drubbed Packers 3-0, thanks to a hat-trick from Dane Peralto; Barry Simpson scored a brace to lead Christian Ambassadors over Shortwood 3-1; sports journalists Ian Burnett and Audley Boyd led Santos to a 2-1 triumph over Wonders; Harbour View edged Real Mona 1-0; Pelican had a similar result over Cavalier; while the games between Barbican and Eastern, and Kush and Boys’ Town ended in 0-0 stalemates.
