PEPPERPOT: Naughty by nature
The political hardliner now turned anti-corruption czar has extended his wings beyond our shores to the Turks and Caicos Islands, where his very checkered past is not well known. Watch for the explosion when they discover that the newly found holier-than-thou persona was no angel in times past.
A Pepper Pot reader’s response
Dear Pepper Pot,
Last week you wrote about companies needing to be careful of their rogue officers whose corrupt activities the companies ultimately have to be accountable for. You cited Sandals as an example. That is nothing new. I work in a bank and you would not know how many incidents we in the banking sector have had to take responsibility for when officers dip into people’s money. We have had to put in millions of dollars worth of security measures to try to prevent it. We keep it quiet, unlike Sandals, but ask any senior banking executive who is not afraid to speak.
Bruce upstaging Andrew
I see former Prime Minister Bruce Golding has emerged from the shadows with a well-thought-out statement on the NHT matter. Good for him. Does this mean we will be hearing more from him in the future? His statement did appear to upstage that of Opposition Leader Andrew Holness.
Back on The Rock
After several months cooling out overseas, the rambunctious one has returned to The Rock. Hope he has learnt his lesson that executives without people skills are passé.
Sex scandal
It will be the mother of all sex scandals if this one breaks. The whispers have started that the secretary is now pregnant. The wife works side by side with the husband so people are asking how come she did not suspect anything. We’ll let you know as it breaks.
Question of the week
Why is Trinidad’s Jack Warner such a slow learner?
