Comfort upset Milk River in Clarendon Major League
MAY PEN, Clarendon — Promoted duo Comfort and Summerfield enjoyed a promising start to life in the Clarendon Captain’s Bakery Major League as action got underway on Sunday in the south-west.
Comfort, promoted to the parish’s top-flight football competition as last season’s Division One runners-up, upstaged perennial title hopefuls Milk River (2-1), who were playing on their “newly developed” Path-Side home field.
Rayon Savery and Gary Morrison were the goalscorers for Comfort in the 25th and 83rd minutes, respectively, while Shamoin Taylor got the hosts’ consolation.
Summerfield, the Division One champions from last year, held York Town to a 1-1 stalemate in the curtain-raiser.
Andre Morgan opened the scoring for York Town in minute 22, but just three minutes later, Jamar Lee equalised for Summerfield from the penalty spot.
