Belair, deCarteret share honours in rural TT
EIGHT boys’ matches — four rural and four urban — were played on Tuesday afternoon, as the ISSA Table Tennis competition continued.
In the rural results, Belair and deCarteret shared the honours in a double header played at Belair, as the hosts won 5-0 in boys’ Under-19 and deCarteret triumphed 4-1 in boys’ Under-16. Cross Keys and Munro also shared the honours in a double header played at Cross Keys. Cross Keys won 3-2 in boys’ Under-19 and Munro succeeded 5-0 in boys’ Under-16.
In the urban results, defending champions KC trounced Hillel 4-1 in Under-19. And in three Under-16 boys’ matches, defending champions St Jago crushed JC 4-1, St George’s College blanked St Catherine 5-0 and Campion drubbed Wolmer’s Boys’ 5-0.
Kingston College stretched their lead atop the standing with this win and are now on 10 points, ahead of Wolmer’s Boys’, on five points, JC on four points and Hillel on three points. The top two finishers will contest the final.
St Jago also extended their lead in Under-16 boys’ Group One and now have 10 points, followed by JC on eight, St George’s College on seven, and St Catherine on five points.
In Under-16 Group Three, Campion are top with nine points ahead of Hillel, on six points, Wolmer’s on five, and Bridgeport on four points. The top two finishers in each Under-16 group will advance to the semi-finals.
Belair lead the standing in Central Two zone Under-19 boys with 10 points, ahead of Cross Keys on nine points, Munro, on six, and deCarteret on five points. In the Under-16 category, deCarteret are leading with nine points, followed by both Belair and Munro on eight points apiece, and Cross Keys on five points. The top finisher in the rural zones will advance to the round-robin finals, while the runners-up will contest the semi-finals.
