Reno, TP in do-or-die match-ups
TUCKER, St James — Former champions Reno FC and Tomorrow’s People are in a near dead heat for a place in Sunday’s mid-season final of the Jamaica Football Federation Captain’s Bakery and Grill Western Confederation Super League as the second round comes to a close this afternoon with five games.
Tomorrow’s People are ahead in Zone Two on 18 points, one more than Reno FC on 17 and with a far superior goal difference of 12 to three. Both must win today if they are to stay in contention for Sunday’s final.
The pair will take on teams they beat in the first round as Tomorrow’s People will meet Norwood Strikers at West Pow Park, while Reno are away to Bamboo FC.
Zone One leaders Wadadah FC are on 20 points and need only a point from their game away to Petersfield FC to confirm their place.
Wadadah FC, former Premier League champions, are the in-form team in the league, unbeaten in their last seven games and have not conceded a goal in their last 385 minutes on the pitch.
Demar Dohman and Andy Johnson, both of whom joined the team in January, lead the team with four goals each and are expected to lead the team’s goal hunt later today against Petersfield who they had beaten 3-1 in the first round.
At West Pow Park, Tomorrow’s People had spanked Norwood 5-0 in their first meeting at Jarrett Park but have been inconsistent this season.
Reno’s form of late has also been less than expected, earning just a point from their last two games but nothing but a win today will
be sufficient.
