‘A family reunion on this album’
SINGER Marcia Griffiths says she had the time of her life recording her latest album, the double disc Marcia Griffiths and Friends.
For the veteran entertainer, “it was like a family reunion”.
“I am looking for some good things with this album. What’s nice about it is the variety of ‘collabs’. It was fun doing the tracks,” Griffiths told the Jamaica Observer.
“I have been getting a lot of praise on the album itself. Some say it’s one of my best works to date,” she added.
Marcia Griffiths and Friends features collaborations with some of dancehall’s hottest names like Busy Signal and German singer Gentleman.
Busy Signal appears on Automatic while Gentleman works with Griffiths on a cover of Bob Andy’s Desperate Lover.
All My Life was done with DaVille and Riddim Affi Roll alongside veteran deejay Lady G.
“That song is receiving a lot of love. It’s mad!” an excited Griffiths said about Riddim Affi Roll which is doing well on New York reggae charts.
Producer Donovan Germain of Penthouse Records, expressed confidence about the album which will be launched this evening at Tracks and Records in St Andrew.
His only concern is that Griffiths is not getting enough airplay locally.
“If she was getting the support of radio she would be more in your face,” he said.
Marcia Griffiths and Friends will be distributed by VP Records.
