Scenes from the 2013 Camperdown Classic
Jamaica Observer photographer Bryan Cummings captured the following pictures during last Saturday’s Camperdown Classic at the National Stadium.
1. Double Olympic sprint champion Usain Bolt (left) making a point to Racers Track Club teammate and Olympic 200m bronze medallist Warren Weir (right) after they completed their 400m races at the Camperdown Classic last Saturday. Sharing in the moment is Yohan Blake, the World Champion over 100m. Bolt, Blake and Weir finished first, second and third respectively in the 200m at the recent London Olympics.
2. Chadwick DaCosta of Kingston College on his way to a massive throw of 18.17m to win the Class One shot put at the Ring of the Road event at St Hugh’s High School. He later captured the discus with a throw of 54.25m.
3. Michael O’Haro of Calabar easing home to victory in the Class Two 100m in 10.98 seconds at the Camperdown Classic. O’Haro was voted the MVP of the ISSA Boys’ and Girls’ Championships last year.
4. GC Foster’s Raymond Brown throwing 20.13m to win the shot put open and in the process qualifying for the World Championships B Standard at the King of the Road Throwing event.
5. Bog Walk High’s Jevaughn Minzie easing down in an impressive 10.64 seconds in the Class One 100m heat at the Camperdown Classic last Saturday.
6. London 2012 Olympic 200m bronze medallist Warren Weir (centre) winning the 400m in 46.21 seconds ahead of Edino Steele (left) in 46.64 and Yohan Blake (third) with 46.77 at the Camperdown Classic last Saturday.
7. Edwin Allen’s Tara-Sue Bennett on her way to a record throw of 47.29m in winning the Class One discus at the King of the Road Event last Saturday. Bennett also captured the shot put with a heave of 12.41m.
