Violet Kickers hunt 2nd straight win
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Violet Kickers will go after their second straight win in the St James Football Association Sandals/ATL Senior League when they take on Melbourne FC in the first game of a triple header at Jarrett Park, starting at 3:00 pm today.
The game was originally set for Tuesday, but was postponed and will be played before Salt Spring United take on Fogo United at 5:00 pm, and Granville City face North Gully Ambassadors in the 7:00 pm game.
All three games will feature teams in Zone A, and except for Violet Kickers, all will be seeking a first win.
Violet Kickers had beaten Granville City 4-1 in their opening game and lead the zone with three points followed by three teams on two — Fogo United, Melbourne United and North Gully Ambassadors, with Granville City and Salt Spring on one point each.
Melbourne have the dubious distinction of not losing a league game since the 2010-2011 season, drawing seven and winning three in the first round last year and just failing to make it to the semi-finals, and have drawn their first two games so far this season.
In one game played on Wednesday at the UDC field, Montego Bay United’s Under-21 team lost their perfect win record after being held goalless by Little Miami.
Montego Bay United had won both previous games by a 6-1 aggregate and now move to seven points, two more than Reggae Youths, with Little Miami and Montego Bay Boys Club on four points each.
Games today: Violet Kickers vs Melbourne FC at 3:00 pm; Salt Spring vs Fogo United at 5:00 pm; and Granville City vs North Gully Ambassadors at 7:00 pm.
