Albion FC open seven-point gap in LIME St Catherine Major League
CHRISTIAN Pen joined Old Harbour Bay United atop the LIME St Catherine Major League, while Albion FC have opened up a seven-point lead in the Division race.
Christian Pen, with goals from Devon Wilson, 15th, and Marvin Jones, 45th+1, blanked Tru-Juice 2-0 in their cross-zoned match and jumped to 24 points, the same as Old Harbour Bay, who could only play to a 1-1 stalemate with third-placed Flamingo on 20 points.
David Gowe scored for Flamingo in the 27th minute before Sonja Harrison levelled things for Old Harbour Bay in minute 73.
DB Basovak condemned Black Lions to yet another defeat, winning 1-0, courtesy of an Andre Simmonds 35th-minute strike, and moved into seventh spot on 16 points.
Rodwood are fourth on 18 points ahead of Tru-Juice and Dela-Vega City on 17 each. Portsmouth are eighth on 15 points ahead of Naggo Head with 11 points, McCooks Pen on eight, Black Lions down in 11th spot on seven, with Wanderers bringing up the rear on six points.
Meanwhile, in Division One, Albion continued their impressive run, whipping Hellshire United 3-0 for their 10th win from 11 games to be on 30 points, seven clear of the chasing pack.
Kenny Lee opened the scoring in the 17th minute before Tavoy Morgan grabbed a brace in the 73rd and 88th minutes.
Second-and third-placed teams Windsor Lions and New Raiders battled to a 3-3 draw and lost crucial grounds to the leader. Windsor Lions are on 23 points, just one ahead of New Raiders with 22 points.
Dunbeholden consolidated fourth spot on 21 points with a close 1-0 win over a Spanish Town Police team down in 11th spot with six points. Aaron Green netted the winner in the 63rd minute.
Travellers remained in fifth spot on 17 points after playing to a 0-0 draw with 10th-placed Upfront United on eight points.
