TEENage Hitlist – February 12
WHAT makes a hit? Is it the lyrics, the artiste, the hype at the time? Is it ‘something special’ about the voice or rhythm?
The TEENage Hitlist pinpoints the hits and the misses as soon as we hear both local and international releases.
U Better Miss Me – Konshens
Despite some criticisms hurled at Konshens by musical and social commentators alike for his deemed “lewd” approach to his more recent releases, TEENage Hitlist believes that Konshens still offers a lot of musical diversity. His latest single U Better Miss Me is another testament to this.
U Better Miss Me is produced by Washroom Entertainment, and finds Konshens vocalising his emotions about lost love.
Konshens opts for crooning throughout the song’s entirety in a delivery that allows the listeners to relate to his feelings, with the aid of subtle background harmonised vocals.
Washroom Entertainment must be commended for providing a reggae-pop backdrop filled with guitar arrangements and piano keys that are fitting for the song’s lyrics about heartbreak.
TEENage Hitlist believes that U Better Miss Me is the perfect single for this year’s Valentine season, and hopefully listeners will feel the same.
