Deejay General GT follows his heroes
AS a budding deejay in Knoxwood district, St Elizabeth, Eccleston Barnes dreamed of emulating his heroes who included legendary toasters like Yellowman and Nicodemus.
However, it was not until six years ago as General GT that he got the chance to record his first song, Pretty Plus Tax.
“It tek a long time but wi jus’ go through.
Wi still keep the vibes like the man dem wey wi grow up a listen,” he said.
The 40-year-old has been on a studio roll recently, cutting a series of songs for his GT International Records and other camps.
Some of his latest releases include the self-produced Mr Big Man, Want No Gun and Slice Of The Cake.
He has done other songs for the underground market in Europe, such as Money Haffi Mek for Yziek Productions, an independent company from Lisbon, Portugal.
“It good fi spread yuh wings an’ get yuh name out in different places.
Yuh cyaan limit yuhself as a artiste,” he said.
