Tru-Juice, Spanish Town Police score big wins in LIME St Catherine Leagues
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Tru-Juice and Spanish Town Police registered the biggest wins in the LIME St Catherine Football Association Major and Division One League respectively over the weekend.
Tru-Juice on the back of a double strike from Seivon Thompson in the 55th and 78th minutes crushed Naggos Head 4-0 in the Major League. Adrian Roberts in the 16th and Gawayne Smith in the 65th minutes were also on the score sheet.
In Division One, Spanish Town Police secured their first win emphatically thumping Hellshire 4-0.
The lawmen climbed off the bottom of the table with six points to be in 10th spot overall ahead of Hellshire also on six points and bottom place Upfront United with four points.
At the top, the impressive looking Albion opened up a four-point lead after edging Dunbeholden 1-0 at the Albion Oval in a cross-zone fixture.
Kenny Lee scored the all-important goal in the 19th minute enabling Albion to secure their ninth win from 10 games and moved to 27 points, four ahead of Windsor Lions on 23 points, who could only muster a 1-1 draw with Blackpool.
New Raiders, the Zone B leader with 19 points are third overall in the standing following their close 3-2 win over Farm United.
Dunbleholden are fourth on 18 ahead of Travellers on 16 points who defeated Watson Grove 2-1. Farm United are sixth on 12 points ahead of Watson Grove in seventh spot on 11 points.
Westchester beat Upfront United 3-1 and jumped into eighth spot with nine points ahead of ninth-placed Blackpool on eight points.
Meanwhile in the Major League, Old Harbour Bay maintained their two-point advantage atop the league despite drawing 0-0 with Black Lions in their cross-zone match at the Soya Centre.
Old Harbour Bay are on 23 points just ahead of Christian Pen on 21 points after they battled to a 1-1 draw with DB Basovak. Andre Simmonds had given Basovak an eighth minute lead but Fabian Whyte earned a share of the points for Christian Pen in the 38th minute.
Flamingo consolidated third spot overall with 19 points with a 1-0 win over Rodwood courtesy of a Stephen Morant 66th minute strike.
Goals by Ricardo Bedward and Kevin Williams in the 20th and 31st minutes respectively led Portsmouth to a 2-1 win over Wanderers at Passage Fort. Meanwhile Marvin Grant netted in the 19th minute as McCooks Pen edged Dela-Vega City 1-0.
Portsmouth with their fifth win climbed to fifth in the table overall on 15 points, the same as sixth-placed with on 17 points.
Dela-Vega City are seventh on 14 points ahead DB Basovak with 13 point with both Naggos Head and McCooks Pen on eight points each. Black Lion are 11th with seven points ahead of bottom-placed Wanderers with six points.
