MoBay Knights on verge WBA title
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Montego Bay Cricket Club Knights are a win away from their first INSPORTS/Hi-Lyte Western Basketball Association Men’s Championships title and a place in the National Basketball League when they take a one-game lead into today’s Game Two of their best-of-three finals against Montego Bay Boys’ Club Warriors at the Cricket Club starting at 7:00 pm.
Knights, last season’s beaten finalist, won last week’s Game One 60-55 and will have the upper hand in today’s game, as Warriors will be without two of their best players due to disciplinary actions.
Sheldon Lyle, who led Warriors on a string of upset wins to get the team that was ranked seventh out of eight in the quarter-finals to the final, as well as Andrew Parkinson and Knights’ Omroy Kerr have all been suspended.
It was reported by game officials that Lyle was thrown out of the game with less than a minute remaining on Saturday after he kicked the ball out of the court in disgust, while Parkinson and Kerr were involved in a fight off the court after the game.
According to League Co-ordinator Deon Williams, Parkinson and Kerr could face further sanctions.
With Lyle and Parkinson out of the line-up, Warriors will be severely affected and will have problems matching-up against Knights, who will be able to replace Kerr in their line-up.
