Celebrating ‘D Brown’
The legacy of Dennis Brown, the Crown Prince of Reggae, will be recalled with a series of events, starting today with a wreath-laying ceremony at his grave at National Heroes Park, Kingston.
On Sunday, there is the Dennis Brown Symposium at Liberty Hall (76 King Street). Speakers include Mutabaruka and Julian “Jingles” Reynolds.
Celebrations culminate at King Street later that day with the annual live show featuring Ken Boothe, John Holt, Tarrus Riley, Carlene Davis, George Nooks, Big Youth, Junior Reid, Horace Andy, Errol Dunkley, Junior Sinclair, QQ, Rootz Underground, Ras Michael and the Sons of Negus, Andrew Tosh, Dean Fraser, Lloyd Parks and We the People Band and the High Times Band with Earl ‘Chinna’ Smith.
MCs for the event are Tommy Cowan, Ibo Cooper and Mutabaruka.
