Swiss set date with Brazil
RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil (AFP) — Brazil will face Switzerland in a friendly on August 14 in what will be their first match after June’s Confederations Cup, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) announced yesterday.
The CBF revealed that the match will be played at the St Jakob Park in the Swiss city of Basel.
Luiz Felipe Scolari’s side, who will host the 2014 World Cup, have already arranged four friendly matches before hosting the Confederations Cup, which will run from June 15-30.
They will face England at Wembley on February 6, before taking on Italy in Geneva, Switzerland on March 21 and then travelling to London for a game against Russia four days later.
Scolari, who recently returned for a second spell as coach of the Selecao after leading the team to glory at the 2002 World Cup in South Korea and Japan, will also oversee a second friendly against England, at the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro on June 2.
