NATIONAL 800m runner Ricardo Cunningham will face the Jamaica Anti-doping Disciplinary Commission at the Jamaica Conference Centre today, starting at 10:00 am, to answer to charges regarding a positive test for the prohibited substance pseudo-ephedrine at last June’s National Championships.

Cunningham, whose hearing was postponed last December, will face a panel which includes Kent Pantry, Juliet Cuthbert, and Dr Jephthah Ford.

The athlete won the 800m at last year’s championships, but later was found to have returned a positive result for the substance which is an ingredient in cough and cold medicines.

He was not selected as part of the team to the London Olympics after failing to make the qualifying standard.

Meanwhile, the hearing of Dominique Blake, the 400m athlete who also tested positive at the Jamaican Olympic trials, was to have been held yesterday, but has been postponed until March 21.

Dr Herb Elliot, chairman of the Jamaica Anti-doping Commission, told the Jamaica Observer that the athlete, who finished sixth in the women’s 400m in 51.93 seconds, had acquired the services of a new attorney and has asked for an adjournment.

“(She) has a new lawyer and asked that they get up on the matter,” he said.

It was the third such adjournment. The case had already been postponed twice since October.

Blake, who earlier served a nine-month ban for a previous positive test, did not appear in person at that original hearing.

The athlete represented Jamaica at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Turkey last March and qualified for the semi-finals of the 400m.

Blake also represented Jamaica at the CAC Games and Commonwealth Games in 2010.
