Old Harbour Bay rebound with whipping of McCooks Pen
OLD Harbour Bay rebounded from the mid-season final loss to trounce McCooks Pen 4-0 and regained top spot in the LIME St Catherine Major League.
Old Harbour Bay crashed 0-3 to Christian Pen in the mid-season final, but double strikes from Okarye Francis (70th, 90th) and Sanjay Harrison (58th, 67th) propelled them to their seventh win from nine matches and to 22 points.
Christian Pen are second with 20 points ahead of Flamingo with 16 following their impressive 3-0 hammering of Tru-Juice. Devon Francis netted twice for Flamingo in the 53rd and 63rd minutes to end Tru-Juice’s unbeaten run.
Romain Stennett scored in the 63rd minute as Rodwood climbed into fourth spot with 15 points with a 1-0 win over ninth-placed Naggo Head on eight points.
Portsmouth clipped DB Basovak 2-1 with goals from Prince Gordon and Duran Thompson in the 73rd and 80th minutes, respectively. Zavian McGaw had given DB Basovak a 32nd minute lead but they failed to hold on.
Dela Vega City and Tru-Juice are tied on 14 points ahead of Portsmouth on 12, Black Lions down in 10th spot with six points with Wanderers and McCooks Pen at the bottom on six and five points, respectively.
Meanwhile, in the LIME St Catherine Division One, mid-season champion Albion continued their good form by blanking Upfront United 2-0 and opened up a two-point gap atop of the table with 24 points, inclusive of eight wins from nine matches. Windsor Lions are second with 22 points ahead of Dunbeholden with 18.
Ricardo Wright found the winner for New Raiders in their 1-0 win over Westchester and consolidated fourth spot on 16 points.
Sixth-placed Farm United on 12 battled to a 1-1 draw with a Blackpool outfit in eighth-place on seven points. Sebastian Woods gave Blackpool a fifth-minute lead before Germaine Beckford earned a share of the points for Farm in the 41st minute.
The Major League continues on Thursday with Wanderers taking on Portsmouth at Passage Fort at 3:30 pm. Then on Friday, there will be a double-header at the Spanish Town Prison Oval as Rodwood tackle Flamingo at 5:00 pm before leaders Christian Pen play DB Basovak at 7:00 pm.
Two games are on Saturday with leader Old Harbour Bay hosting Black Lions and McCooks Pen travelling to Dela-Vega City. Tru-Juice and Naggo Head clash on Sunday at Ewarton.
In the Division One, leaders Albion and Dunbeholden clash in the feature match-up at Albion Oval on Saturday in a repeat of the mid-season final. Windsor Lions tackle Blackpool on Thursday before Hellshire travel to the Police Academy to take on Spanish Town Police.
Westchester are scheduled to play Upfront United, Travellers host Watson Grove and Farm take on New Raiders on Sunday.
