Cumberland, B’Port notch wins in Division 2
CUMBERLAND whipped Garveymeade, 4-0, in the LIME Portmore Division Two Football League at Cumberland last Sunday.
Cumberland went ahead when Ray Christie netted in the seventh minute. Marlon James increased the lead in the 34th as the first half ended 2-0.
Garveymeade went 3-0 behind in the 78th courtesy of a defensive error, with Andrew Richards responsible for an own-goal. Cumberland delivered the final rites in the 89th through Tino Spence.
Bridgeport beat Silverstone, 2-1, in another game, with Tahrie Johnson scoring in the 51st minute for the winners. Silverstone restored parity via Jessie Smith in the 69th, but Melvin Silvera sealed the issue in the 89th.
In games played at Greater Portmore High, Greater Portmore drew 1-1 with East Portmore Portals. Kino Walker scored for Portals in the 21st, while David Whittingham replied for Greater Portmore in the 24th.
Racing and Braeton also drew 1-1, with Damion Gordon on target in the 80th for Braeton in the 90th and Romaine Gibbon pulling Racing level 10 minutes later.
East Portmore Portals meet Garveymeade at Greater Portmore High today at 1:00 pm, while Greater Portmore face Garveymeade at 3:00.
At Racing Oval, Silverstone play Braeton at 1:00 before Racing host Bridgeport at 3:00.
