FOLLOWING their impressive win in the LIME St Catherine Major League Mid-Season final, Christian Pen continued their good form with a 5-1 whipping of Wanderers in midweek.

Last Sunday, Christian Pen blanked Old Harbour Bay United 3-0 to lift the Major League final in emphatic fashion, while Albion whipped Dunbeholden 4-1 to capture the Division One crown.

LIME’s Events Manager, Nathaniel Palmer, told the Jamaica Observer that outstanding talent is emerging from the LIME-sponsored St Catherine Leagues.

“We have seen some amazing talent exhibited throughout the duration of both the LIME/St Catherine Football Association Major and Division One leagues. These exciting Mid-Season finals gave the competing teams an opportunity to showcase the type of football being played within the league,” said Palmer.

“It’s our mandate to touch the lives of the person we serve in the most positive ways we can. The St Catherine Football Association is one such vehicle through which our corporate philosophy is being fulfilled,” he noted.

Meanwhile, Christian Pen, who defeated Wanderers, have now assumed overall sole leadership of the Major League by one point ahead of Old Harbour Bay. Their victory came courtesy of goals from Marvin Jones (31st, 36th), Fabian White (34th), Kevin Patterson (68th) and Devon Wilson (81st) and saw them jumped to 20 points from nine games.

Old Harbour Bay, with a game in hand, are second with 19 points ahead of Tru-Juice and De la Vega City with 14 each.

In another midweek Major League result, De la Vega City blanked Black Lions 2-0.

Meanwhile, Flamingo remained in fifth spot on 13 points ahead of DB Basovak and Rodwood with 12 each, with Portsmouth a further three points adrift on nine points. Naggo Head (eight), Black Lions (six), Wanderers (six), and McCook’s Pen (five).

Meanwhile, Albion trounced Dunbleholden 4-1 to capture the LIME St Catherine Division One Mid-Season final last Sunday.

Dwayne Peters had given Dunbeholden a 17th-minute lead from the penalty spot, but Albion roared back with goals from David Morris (25th), Tavay Morgan (28th, 74th) and Mark Morris (31st) for a comprehensive victory.

Albion continue to lead the Division One League overall with 21 points from eight games ahead of Windsor Lions with 19 points and Dunbeholden in third on 15 points.

New Raiders are fourth on 13 points, the same as Travellers who clipped Hellshire 1-0 in midweek. Farm United are currently sixth on 11 points, two ahead of Westchester with nine points.

Watson Grove, who defeated Spanish Town Police 3-2, are on eight points ahead of Hellshire and Blackpool, both with six points each with Upfront United in 11th on four points and the lawmen, Spanish Town Police bringing up the rear on three points.
