Struggling Granville soar in St James KO
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Struggling Western Confederation Super League side Granville United had their biggest win of the season after upsetting Catherine Hall United, 2-0, in the quarterfinals of the St James Captain’s Bakery KO last weekend.
Granville have struggled in the Super League, but were winning their third straight game in the KO and join Melbourne FC, who beat Montego
Bay United’s Under-21s, 4-1.
Granville and Melbourne advance to Sunday’s semi-finals where they will face Reggae Youths and Montego Bay United, respectively, for a place in the final.
At Sam Sharpe Teachers’ College, Junior Tibert in the 17th minute and Tennison Jarrett in the 30th gave Granville victory.
At Westpow Park, Doran Hines goals in the 54th and 83rd led Melbourne to their win. Christopher Hinds in the 17th and Norman Foster with a penalty in the 44th also scored for Melbourne, while Oraine Gaynor scored the Under-21s’ lone goal in the 62nd.
