Hi-Lyte/Insports South Conference basketball quarters tip off today
The Hi-Lyte/Insports South Conference Community basketball League best-of-three quarter-finals tip-off today with four games.
At 6:00 pm, Arnett Gardens Rockers oppose Spanish Town Meadows on court two, while on court one Mega Mart Magics go up against Linkup All-stars.
At 7:30 pm on court two, Denham Town Warriors take on Upper Room Church, while on court one Pembroke Hall face Aqua Youths in the other game.
On Wednesday, Denham Town and Pembroke Hall joined Linkup and Mega Mart Magics in the last eight after victories over Norman Gardens Dragons and Hagley Park, respectively, at the Edward Seaga courts.
The Warriors downed the Dragons 75-58 in their clash for a 2-0 series win with Deveraux Preston topscoring with 22 points, supported by Charles Watson with 13 points and 15 rebounds.
The Dragons’ Kaunda Mark was the game’s topscorer with 23 points and eight rebounds, followed by Hayden Crumbie with 12 points.
Pembroke Hall also advanced with a 2-0 series win, thanks to 18 points and seven rebounbds from Kevin Witter, 15 points from Andrew Bell and 14 points and nine rebounds from Kevin Daley.
Richard Mahabeer was Hagley Park’s topscorer with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
On Thursday, Arnett Gardens, Spanish Town Meadows, Upper Room Church and Aqua all secured their places after winning the third match in their three-game series to advance 2-1.
Spanish Town, with 16 points from Junior McDonald and 14 points from Travis Ramsay, defeated Rae Town Raptors 60-56.
Byron Dixon was Rae Town’s topscorer with 15 points and nine rebounds, followed by Oneil Wilson with 10 points.
Upper Room had the narrowest margin of victory, after they only managed a 47-46 win against Sky Legends. Gavin Duncan with 14 points, Nicholas Venson with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 12 blocks, and Shaviar Francis with 12 points, led the scoring for the church men.
Sky’s Luke Cooke posted a game-high 16 points and 10 rebounds, followed by Oratio West with 12 points and nine rebounds.
Arnett Gardens booked their place after a 51-45 win over Braves Chiefs.
Ochorn Kirkland had 14 points and 14 rebounds for Arnett and Joel Parkinson 12 points and six rebounds.
Sandale James and Osmond Farquharson led the Braves with eight points each.
In the night’s other game, Aqua with 14 points and 16 rebounds from Carland Grey, 14 points and 10 rebounds from Oraine Blackwood, and 13 points from Anthony Richards eased past North Street Heats 52-35.
Lloyd Mitchell was North Street’s topscorer with nine points.
