Trial of Vaz, Bicknell, Forbes postponed
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The trial of Member of Parliament Daryl Vaz, businessman Bruce Bicknell and Senior Superintendent James Forbes was today postponed in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court.
The matter was set for mention for case management to determine if there are any other outstanding documents to be served by the prosecution.
The trial was postponed because the prosecution only last evening disclosed a document to the defence attorneys.
Vaz has been charged with breaches of the Corruption Prevention Act while Bicknell and Forbes are charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice.
The charges stem from allegations that Bicknell attempted to bribe a police sergeant in April last year, and the later involvement of Vaz and Forbes in the matter.
