GOLDEN LOOKS
Many stars opted for black at the Golden Globes Sunday night. But for once, it was anything but safe. From Kate Hudson’s sensational gilded Alexander McQueen gown to Rachel Weisz in sheer Louis Vuitton polka dots, there was plenty of fun and drama at the dark end of the spectrum. The fashion highlights didn’t end there, though. The season’s most on-trend hue, oxblood, was an elegant choice for several of the evening’s best-dressed. In fact, many stars went for show-stopping takes on the sometimes sombre shade, making for a refreshing break from all the ethereal nudes that we see so much. It was a joy to see white worked so successfully on Anne Hathaway. It can so often look bridal in formal wear, but to her credit, she looked edgy enough to escape that trap. But the fashion fun and daring sartorial risks didn’t end there. We reveal our favourite looks from the night…

Stacy-keibler
A black bandeau dress usually makes us yawn, but the flawless Stacy Keibler makes this Armani Privé gown look incredibly special.
Nicole-Kidman
Nicole Kidman went for Alexander McQueen. The sheer midriff shouldn’t work, but the combination of this gown and actress makes it possible.
Naomi-Watts
Naomi Watts channels old Hollywood glamour in this bang-on-trend oxblood hue. The colour is not an obvious one for evening wear, but the open back makes it super sexy.
Anne-hathaway
Huge praise to Anne Hathaway for keeping it so simple in Chanel couture. With that pixie crop and minimal jewelry, there’s nothing like serious restraint to really create drama.
Jennifer-lawrence
Jennifer Lawrence may have had a cold, but in this Christian Dior gown, she looked hot, hot, hot. The shiny black belt at the waist stops the look from being too princessy.
Jessica-Alba
Jessica Alba makes it look easy to wear this coral Oscar de la Renta gown. We love how she has teamed it with a bright red lipstick that appears to co-ordinate rather than clash.
Thandie-Newton
Thandie Newton has great style and we love that she has gone for a short hemline here. The dress is by her old friend Giles Deacon. The pink peep-toes are an inspired choice of footwear.
Kate-hudson
Kate Hudson’s gown almost looked gilded, such is the skill of Alexander McQueen’s Sarah Burton. We love that Kate wears it with such ease.
Kerry-Washington
Kerry Washington shimmered in a fabulous nude Miu Miu embellished design.
Rachel-Weisz
Rachel Weisz proved black was anything but boring in this sheer polka dot Louis Vuitton dress that was at once elegant and playful.
