Clarks Town new leaders of Trelawny FA Major League
COOPERS PEN, Trelawny — Former champions Clarks Town are the new leaders of Zone One in the Trelawny Football Association National Rums of Jamaica Major League after a 2-1 win over Coopers Pen, as the return-round got under way on Saturday.
Clarks Town moved to nine points, one more than Invaders, who have two games in hand, however, as Spicy Hill also moved into second place after blanking Jackson Town 2-0.
At Coopers Pen, Michael Rose scored in the eighth minute to give the visitors the lead and held it until the 68th minute, before Christopher Noble equalised.
Dhane Johnson, however, scored his second goal of the second in the 89th minute to snatch all the points for Clarks Town.
After being beaten 1-0 in the first round, Spicy Hill exacted some revenge with the 2-0 win over Jackson Town with goals from a defender in the 47th and Renford Gibson in the 65th.
Classic United also scored a revenge win in Zone Two, coming from behind to beat Kinloss 3-1 at Blackwin to move to second place on eight points, trailing leaders Prospect Links, who are on 11 points.
Rajae Chung gave Kinloss the lead after only seven minutes, but Austin Dixon’s 16th minute goal leveled the team going into half-time.
Omar Hemmings then scored in the 52nd and Tamaro Williams in the 73rd to give Classic a convincing win.
