8 arrested in shooting death of 8-y-o girl
Montego Bay, St James – Eight people are now in custody following the shooting death of eight-year-old Imani Green in Duncans, Trelawny last Friday night.
According to Senior Superintendent Noel Christie the police made the arrests based on leads received from community members.
“We have been conducting some operations as we follow the information or leads regarding this particular case. During one operation we apprehended seven persons and during another operation apprehended one other person. So a total of eight persons were taken into custody and are being processed and questioned.” he said
Police reports are that Green of Balham in South London was at Pinky’s Bar with relatives at about 8:30pm when a gunman opened fire hitting her and three others believed to be her relatives.
Young Green, who was hit twice, was rushed to hospital where she was pronounced dead. She’s said to have been on the island for holiday, which her family hoped would help with her sickle cell anemia.
The other three victims are in hospital in stable condition.
