Village defend Super League streak at home
FALMOUTH, Trelawny — Village United will put their three-game win streak up against Catherine Hall, one of the most consistent teams in the Captain’s Bakery Western Confed Super League when they meet at Elliston Wakeland Centre today at 3:00 pm.
A full slate of six games will be played, with Reno and Tomorrow’s People seeking to rebound from indifferent forms, with former champions Granville still seeking a win.
At Elliston Wakeland, a point separate the teams at the top of Zone 1, with Village United on nine, as Catherine Hall failed to retake the lead last week after coming from behind to earn a 1-1 draw against Wadadah at Jarrett Park on Wednesday.
Village, who were relegated from the Premier League last season, rebounded from a shaky start, losing their first game and getting players sent off in their first two games, to win their last three and is the in-form team.
In Catherine Hall, however, they will meet their toughest challenge so far as the Garfield Anderson-coached St James based club, is the only team still unbeaten and the goal allowed against Wadadah was the first of the season.
Reno, who won their first three before being ambushed by promoted Norwood Strikers on Tuesday, will be home at Frome against a good-looking Bamboo FC team and will hope to return to winning ways.
Reno went down 1-0 to Norwood despite dictating the flow of the game for long periods, but will enjoy home field advantage against Bamboo, who have earned all their seven points in their last three games, two win and a draw and are coming off a 2-0 win over Granville last Sunday.
Tomorrow’s People have cooled down after a fast start, earning just one point from their last two outings after being held at home by Holland and will face a confident Norwood Strikers in a St James derby at Jarrett Park.
Norwood have won three games in a row, including two in the St James KO and after toppling Reno on Tuesday, will fancy their chances against a struggling Tomorrow’s People.
