CAC Junior Championships 200m silver medallist JeVaughn Minzie was beaten in his first outing of the season in a record-breaking 200m race in one of several marks shattered at the Douglas Forrest Invitational Meet at the National Stadium yesterday.

The Bog Walk athlete was second in his heat in 21.65 seconds, beaten by Calabar’s Jevaugn Francis in a meet record 21.33.

Francis beat the 21.80 mark previously held by Wolmer’s Boys’ Odean Skeen. Minzie said he was fine with the runner-up spot.

“There is no disappointment. This is early season so you don’t know what can happen down in the future. It’s a good effort for me right now so I’m just hoping for the season to become very interesting for me,” he said.

Calabar’s Michael O’Hara posted a record 21.60 seconds to win heat four, thus capturing the Class Two Boys 200m and besting the 22.01 mark previously set by Jamaica College’s (JC) Rohan Walker.

Devaughn Baker of JC was second in 21.64, with Collin Sewell of Titchfield third in 22.08.

Renee Smith of Alpha posted a record 24.74secs in the Girls’ equivalent.

Jonielle Smith of Wolmer’s posted 24.98 for second, as did Camperdown’s Peta Gay Williams.

Meanwhile, Taqece Duggan of Hydel clocked a record 25.22 to win the Class Three Girls 200m ahead of Ayeshia Morgan, 25.55, and Okhalia Buchanan of Wolmer’s, 25.78. The previous mark of 26.10 was held by Christine Moss of STETHS.

Christopher Taylor of Calabar also lowered the Class Three Boys 800m mark to 2:05.40 from 2:08.50. Shane Henry of Wolmer’s was second in 2:06.94 and Phillip Williams of JC third in 2:11.78.

Andrenette Knight of Vere Technical set a new mark of 1:02.70 to win the Girls 400m hurdles Open. The previous record of 1:02.20 was held by Sashel Brown of Alpha. Brown finished second in 1:02.75 and Hydel’s Brittaney third in 1:02.96.

Keneil Grant of Kingston College (KC) equalled his record 7.23m to win the Boys long jump Class One. Team-mate Clive Pullen was second with 7.05m, with Casrick Wright third with 7.04m.

Lushane Wilson of Monk Street Boys also had a new record in the Boys Class Three high jump with 1.85m. The old mark of 1.70m was held by KC’s Luke Walters. Sadiki Morgan of Wolmer’s was second with 1.70m, the same height as third-placed Jon-Michael Davis of Wolmer’s.

Wolmer’s Yannick Hart ran 54.77 in winning the Boys 400m hurdles. He finished ahead of Davian Baker of KC 54.88 and Javon Francis of Calabar, 55.76.

St Hugh’s Fellan Ferguson stopped the clock in a record 2:15.29 to land the Girls Class one 800m, beating the previous mark of 2:20.96 set by Titania Markland of St Mary.

Candice Higgins of Eagles Track Club posted 2:18.70 for second, while Markland finished third in 2:21.48.

In Class Two, Cameka Witter won in 2:21.12, while Patricia Williams of STETHS was second in 2:24.61 and Chenell Morrison of Eagles Track, 2:28.60, third.

Hydel had a top-two finish in Class Three with Monifa Green, 2:22.43, and Tareqe Duggan, 2:24.94. Third place went to Whitney Gauntlett of Buff Bay in 2:26.91.

Jodean Williams ran 24.53 seconds to win the Class One 200m in front of Kissi Ann Brown of Wolmer’s, 25.83, and Crystal Campbell, 25.91.

Shaneil English secured victory in the Class Four Girls 200m in a record 25.69 seconds, surpassing the old mark of 26.61. Hydel teammate Carla Lawson, 26.37, was second, with Vere’s Sanique Walker third in 26.42.

St Jago registered a one-two finish in the Boys 5000m Open. Larone Haye won in 16:15.0h, with Cavahn McKenzie second in 16:16.1. Third went to St Thomas Tech’s David Rojohn in 16:22.4.

The Girls 3000m Open was won by Megan Thompson of William Knibb in 11:11.7h, with St Andrew Tech’s Samantha Harris, 11:30.5, second and Althea McLaughlin of STETHS third in 12:21.5.

In the field, world junior champion Fedrick Dacres was well below the 56.95m he threw at last week’s JC/Wata meet, throwing 53.21 for second in the men’s discus.

Shane Dodd of GC Foster won with a throw of 53.40, while Chadrick Dacosta of KC was third witj 49.3.

Jeffrey King’s distance of 61.59m was good enough for top spot in the men’s javelin. GC Foster teammate Orrin Powell threw 61.49 and Che-Andre Gordon of Utech, 56.81.

Orlando Thomas of Bridgeport threw 53.24m to win the Boys javelin event. In second place was Zavian Richards of KC with 49.13, with Jerome Gordon of Calabar A third with 48.78.

Hydel’s Devia Brown threw 34.58m to take victory in the Girls Class Three discus in a new record. St Hugh’s Aliyah Francis held the old record of 28.98m. Fiona Richards of Buff Bay was second with 32.90 and Joel Robinson third with 31.60.

St Jago’s Tamoya Walters cleared 1.70m to win the Girls high jump Class one with Buff Bay’s Annjetta Hanson second with 1.60 and Trudy McCalla of Oberlin third with 1.55.

Shannon Bailey of Wolmer’s copped the Girls Class Four high jump with a clearance of 1.55m. Shantayia Morris of Camperdown was second with 1.45, the same height as third-placed Dana Thomas of St Jago.

Athecia Parkes of St Jago leaped 5.12m to win the long jump Class Three.

Second was Trishaunna Hemmings with 5.06 and Ayeshia Morgan of Hydel third with 4.98.
