Insports/Hi-lyte WBA Men’s league enters quarter-final round
MONTEGO BAY, St James — The quarterfinals of the Insports/Hi-lyte Western Basketball Association’s Men’s Development League will be played this weekend with double headers scheduled for the Montego Bay Cricket Club Saturday and Sunday, starting at 5:00pm each day.
The final pairings were decided last weekend with the playing of two rescheduled games as the eight qualifiers advanced from the 11 team first round.
Montego Bay Cricket Club Knights topped the standings with 19 points, losing just one of 10 games, winning their last two after an upset loss to William Knibb Thunder who finished second with 17 points, the same as Trelawny Tornadoes and Sav J-Hawks.
Rockybar Ballers lost their last two games to finish with 16 points in fifth position ahead of Inner-city Avalanche, 15 points, with Montego Bay Boys Club Warriors and Coral Gardens Raptors both ending on 14 points, the same as ninth placed Granville Wolfpack.
Cornwall Courts Chargers with 11 points and Muschett Cardinal on 10 were the other teams taking part.
On Saturday, Thunders will open against Boys Club Warriors in the 5:00pm game, while Tornadoes who won their last five games and Avalanche will square off in the second game.
On Sunday, top seeded Knights and Raptors will meet in the first game followed by JHawks and Rockybar Ballers.
The winners will qualify for next week’s semi-finals that will be played Saturday and Sunday at the same venue.
