Cavalier shock Tivoli 3-0
Cavalier, playing with 10 men after 15 minutes, stunned a Tivoli Gardens team lacking verve 3-0 in their Red Stripe Premier League match at the Edward Seaga Stadium yesterday.
It was a brilliant display from the promoted Cavalier after Kirk Fletcher was red-carded in the 15th minute for striking a player and was given an early shower by referee Karl Tyrell.
But goals by Fabian Nethersole (25th), Claudious Blackburn (60th) and Girvon Brown (78th) gave Cavalier their second win over Tivoli Gardens this season and remained in seventh spot on 30 points.
Tivoli Gardens, who also had Raymond Williamson dismissed after picking up his second yellow in the 69th minute, was losing their eighth game of the campaign and stayed in ninth spot on 26 points.
Cavalier, pressing for a second end-of-round final spot, played as if they had the extra man throughout, and Nethersole found space on the right, and with only defender Kasai Hinds to beat, he did just that and rammed home a right footer.
Then the club’s top scorer, Blackburn, scored a 35-metre scorcher on the counter-attack before Brown outmuscled last man Kemar Flemmings, rounded goalkeeper Roybert Clarke and walked the ball home in the 78th minute to totally embarrass the home team and their fans.
