T’People give ‘Tegat’ winning start in Super League
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Paul ‘Tegat’ Davis made a winning start as coach of Jamaica Football Federation’s (JFF) Captain’s Bakery and Grill Western Confederation Super League team Tomorrow’s People after a 1-0 win over former champions Granville FC at Jarrett Park yesterday.
Damion Rankine made the best of a goalkeeper error in the 35th minute to give Tomorrow’s People their second win in a row without conceding a goal. This moves them into leadership of Zone 2 as Reno FC’s game against Holland United was set to start later yesterday.
The defeat was the second in a row for Granville, who had just one substitute on the bench in only the second game of the season due to disciplinary actions taken by the club.
Bamboo FC of Hanover were also winners yesterday, clipping promoted Norwood Strikers, 1-0, at the UDC field in Montego Bay.
Garfield Duncan’s second-minute goal was the difference between the teams in a game that failed to excite the few fans who showed up.
Norwood Strikers have now lost consecutive games to start their first season at this level while conceding three goals.
Results yesterday:
Bamboo 1 Norwood Strikers 0
Tomorrow’s People 1 Granville FC 0
