Three target trophy feature today
IMPORTED horses Dream Point, Argument Done and Miss Boss Lady look set to corral the United Racehorse Trainers’ Association Trophy feature at Caymanas Park today.
A Restricted Stakes run going 1,820 metres for imported three-year-olds upward (NW3) and maidens and native-bred three-year-olds, the event is set to go off at approximately 4:20 pm with first post at 12:30 pm.
Based on their last runs, pride of place can easily go to Miss Boss Lady who had both There Goes Justin, her stable-mate and Dream Point behind, in that order, when winning over the distance in a smart 1:55.2 on October 27.
A three-year-old dark bay filly by Hat Trick out of Never Faulty (Faltaat) bred by Colando, Dr Andrew, Miss Boss Lady showed massive improvement then and now looks in good shape to go on to better things. Trained by Fitzgerald Richards, Miss Boss Lady, Omar Walker will again ride.
Dream Point, who seems to be blossoming into a nice filly after three runs on local soil could be one of the main threats to Miss Boss Lady repeating over the distance.
Owned by PJK Team, Dream Point is by Sweetsouthernsaint out of Ennuhway (Notebook) bred by Ocala Stud. Trained by Ian S Parsard, the Sweetsouthernsait filly has been industriously prepared to meet another testing run and being more than comfortable over the trip could make amends for arriving late on last. Regular jockey Richard Mitchell remains in the saddle for the fourth consecutive race.
Despite the foreboding presence of the American-bred runners, Aventura a three-year-old dark bay gelding by Storm Craft out of Galaxy Girl (Natural Selection) and bred by Allan Flowers, is one of the three local-bred in the eight-horse field who should not be over awed by the opposition.
Prepard for the races by Gresford Smith, the gelded son of Storm Craft has as good a credential for winning this event as any of his more fancied imported counterparts who also include the 9-5 odds on favourite Argument Done.
Aventura, who was a prominent performer in the native-bred three-year-old season, was a disqualified winner in the Lotto Classic and also completed the frame in both the Jamaica Derby and the Jamaica St Leger. In his last 11 races, Aventura has not been out of the money and today will be no different with Richard Mairs, who was aboard on Lotto Day, returning to the saddle in place of Winston Griffiths who had replaced him for the next races.
Argument Done, trained by Anthony Nunes for owners Elias Haloute & Percival A Henry and Courtney Walsh, is a dark bay/brown colt by Closing Argument out of Fire Breath (Falt Lake) bred by Spruce Lane farm. A quite steady performer who was beaten by Type Writer over the distance on May 26. Since then he has reeled off consistent performances over varying distances without winning success but now that the trip is extended, his chance of leaving non-winners of two behind is just as good as any of his rivals with Shane Ellis remaining in control.
