Brimmervale notch good Inter-Zone win
BRIMMERVALE High, one of two best third-placed teams from the first round of the ISSA/Gatorade/Digicel daCosta Cup, stayed on course for a place in the quarter-finals after a hard-fought 3-2 win over St Mary High in their rescheduled Inter-zone game at Highgate on Monday.
The game was originally set for Saturday but was postponed due to heavy rains and a water-logged field.
The win saw Brimmervale improve to four points — two behind Zone Five leaders Cedric Titus, whom they meet today at Drax Hall in one of 16 games scheduled in the final set of Inter-zone games.
It was the third meeting between Brimmervale and St Mary High this season after they met twice in
the first round, with the first game ending 0-0 and St Mary winning the return game, 3-0.
Two third-placed teams qualified for the Inter-zone round for the first time this season after ISSA increased the first-round groups to 15 from 12. Brimmervale and Maggotty
got the spots.
In the other game played Monday, Bog Walk High and St Mary Technical played to a 0-0 draw in the second game at Highgate.
In today’s final set of matches, 19 schools will be in for a chance at the eight quarter-final spots at stake.
