OCHO RIOS, St Ann — A man who had reportedly gone to counsel a teenager on the request of the teen’s mother was stabbed to death as he tried to bring calm at a St Ann’s Bay home Tuesday evening.

Thirty-seven-year-old Richard Grant was stabbed as he tried to quell a dispute between the mother and son.

Grant, who lived nearby, was reportedly called by the mother to talk to her 18-year-old son, who had threatened to kill her. The teen allegedly went inside his home while Grant was talking to him, returned with a knife which he used to stab Grant in the left side of his neck. Grant died on the spot.

The teen reportedly handed over himself to the police.

Up to Wednesday evening the teen was not charged, however, Superintendent of Police in charge of St Ann, Dudley Scott said that he would be charged soon.

In less than 24-hours, the St Ann police were again called to another crime scene by residents.

The second murder reportedly took place after 1:00 am Wednesday morning (October 17) in Hampstead, Runaway Bay. Residents reportedly heard gunshots and summoned the police. The body of an unidentified man was found along the roadway with hands tied with a shoe lace and having what appeared to be gunshot wounds. 

Several residents gathered on the scene Wednesday morning however, no one could identify the man.

Residents say the roadway is not a very busy one and so persons may have used that to their advantage, killing and dumping the body of the man in the community.

The St Ann police continue to investigate both incidents.
