WINDIES defeat Aussies to advance to T20 final
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The West Indies put in a brilliant all round performance to defeat Australia by 74 runs in the semi-finals of the World T20 championships in Colombo today.
Boosted by a swashbuckling half century from opener Chris Gayle, who was ably supported by Dwayne Bravo, Kerron Pollard and Marlon Samuels, the West Indies posted a formidable 205-4 to put the Aussies under pressure.
The total proved too much for the Australians who were bowled out for 131.
Pacer Ravi Rampual was the pick of the bowlers with 3-16 off 2.4 overs.
The West Indies will now tackle hosts Sri Lanka in Sunday’s final.
