Jamaicans seem to get away scot-free with vigilante justice. There seems to be no form of investigation to apprehend the individuals who carry out vigilante justice in Jamaica, even if the culprits are identifiable. The most recent was the murder of a man whom people in his community suspected of being involved in the deaths of two little boys in Trelawny.

What right does a person or community have to kill someone, based on suspicion? Who will stand up and pursue justice for the murdered man who would have been presumed guilty until charged by our justice system, which didn’t even get the chance to work?

We cannot support this type of behaviour. A community should not kill based on suspicion; they should be charged for murder! Acting in defiance of the law seems to be the norm in this country; how are we going to emerge from such backward behaviour if the security forces seem to support it? Something needs to be done urgently.
