Dr Michael Coombs is new Chief Medical Officer
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Doctor Micheal Coombs has been named Chief Medical Office at the Ministry of Health, replacing Dr Eva Lewis Fuller who retired.
Coombs, who served as Regional Technical Director at the Southern Regional Health Authority (SRHA) for twelve years, assumed the position on August 28.
Coombs has nearly 30 years experience in health care and is credited with the establishment of a chronic disease-prevention model through a joint Technical Cooperation Project between the governments of Jamaica and Japan.
He is also credited with the expansion of services and upgrading of several hospitals within the SRHA and the establishment of a Haemodialysis unit at the Mandeville Regional Hospital.
