My Kingston – Cecil Gordon Smith
Marketing Manager Owned Brands, J Wray & Nephew Ltd
Share with us your earliest memories of Kingston.
I was born in Kingston at the University Hospital of the West Indies. My earliest and most profound memories include going to the Hope Botanical Park, Hope Zoo and, most importantly, Coconut Park to ride on the merry-go-round, train and the infamous roller coaster.
What do you miss when you are not in Kingston?
The laid back vibe of the people, familiar faces everywhere you go in the city, and just being home with my family.
What are your home comforts?
Lounging in bed in front of my 60-inch television surfing between the many football games that are playing.
You’ve just celebrated your fourth year with FNO and your cocktails just keep getting better and better. What’s your secret ingredient?

Which do you reckon was the evening’s favourite cocktail?
The Appleton Genesis Lycheetini, which is a delicious lychee-infused martini; the patrons who were fortunate enough to sample it at FNO. Kept wanting more.
What was your last bit of retail therapy?
Shoes, a stylish pair of Aldo dress loafers; I really like the style and comfort of that brand.
You were at the US Open, how was that experience?
It was a fantastic trip as I got to see my favourite tennis player Serena Williams, reigning Wimbledon and Olympic champion, win her quarter-final match and Roger Federer who unfortunately lost in four sets to Tomas Berdych. The experience was even more rewarding as I got an opportunity to share the occasion with special customers from all over the world who earned all-expenses-paid trip courtesy of Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum to the matches.
