Cops keep eye on troubled Central Village
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Police today warned warring gangs in Central Village that they would continue to keep a close watch on the community despite no reports of shootings over the past few weeks.
Cops report that in the first week of September three people were shot, two fatally, in an incident as tension flared in the troubled St Catherine community.
That incident followed a triple murder in the community several days before.
Cops say that have since intensified their presence in the area.
“Since that time there has been a reduction in criminal activity but police will not drop their guard despite the reduction in illegal activities,” a policeman from the area said.
