Arnett rue missed chances in 0-0 tie
DRAX HALL, St Ann — Highgate United held the high-flying Arnett Gardens to a 0-0 draw in their Red Strike Primier League match on Sunday at Drax Hall on a wasteful afternoon.
Arnett attacked mainly through Kirk Ramsay and Lamar Neil, with the latter’s best effort finding the side netting
Highgate adjusted early, led by Dennis Neish and Roberto Fletcher, with support from Donovan Davis, Jerome Wedderburn and Jerry Walters.
Arnett gradually orchestrated their offensive moves, with Jason Moore, Ramsay, Marcelino Blackburn and Ricardo Oldman heavily involved.
They should have taken the lead in the 37th minute when Gerald Neil passed to Vishinul Harris, who weaved his way into the penalty area and passed to Ramsay, but the latter’s shot was well managed by goalie Ralston Robinson.
Arnett assistant coach Lijyasu Simms blamed indiscipline for the tied result.
“This game showed the indiscipline that has crept into the team… we created the chances but failed to put them away. This is football and if you don’t score you either draw or lose, but we should have won this game,” he lamented.
Highgate’s coach Calvin Lewis was pleased with the point.
“It was a good game. Arnett got two good chances and did not put them away. We got our chances and I must credit the players as they worked hard for this point,” he noted.
