Zuma praises Jamaica gold medals
South Africa’s President Jacob Zuma, yesterday applauded Jamaica’s gold medals at the summer Olympics in London, as he spoke at a press briefing at Jamaica House, following preliminary bilateral talks at Jamaica House with Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller.
“We also would like to congratulate Jamaica on winning gold at the Olympics in London. It is clear that Africans, in the African Diaspora and Africa, are making their presence felt and Jamaica is among the strongest of those countries,” he said.
He noted that his visit to Jamaica was aimed at strengthening bilateral co-operation, and should take both nations to a new level.
Zuma’s one-day visit was to participate in the celebration of Jamaica’s 50th anniversary of Independence.
