KINGSTON, Jamaica- Sprint queen Veronica Campbell-Brown took the time today to reassure her fans that she has no problems “doubling up” with the 100m and 200m races.

Speaking to reporters in London after finishing second to qualify for the 200m semi-finals which will take place tomorrow, Campbell-Brown said her aim was to advance to the next round, which she did.

“It’s not that difficult. I am used to it. I have been doing the double for many years now. It’s the first round. The objective is always to advance to the next round. I achieved that, so it’s good. The aim is to get to the final and run as best as I can there.”

Jamaican sprinter Sherone Simpson also finished second in her heat.

After coming from behind, the 27-year-old was beaten by American Carmelita Jeter, but says she has decided to just look forward to the finals.

“I think I recovered well. It wasn’t a good race but I need to put it behind me and look forward to the semifinals,” Simpson said.

She said the fact that she did not compete in the 100m has improved her chances to get everything right.
